What: The Festival of Cultures is a fun-filled celebration of the cultural
and linguistic diversity of our community. It features a roster of
international music and dance performances; cultural exhibits; local
resource information; hands-on activities and passports for kids; artisan
crafts; plus delicious ethnic food for sale. Featured among this year’s
performers is the renowned Andrés Flores, a master of the lyrical Son
Jarocho music from Veracruz, Mexico that blends indigenous, Spanish
and African traditions.
Who: Over 25 different nationalities are represented through
performances, crafts, exhibits, and/or cuisines.
When: Saturday, May 14, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Where: Lee Park, in downtown Charlottesville (Market Street and 2nd St. NE)
Cost: Free and open to the public
Why: A perennial family favorite, the Festival of Cultures is a gathering
place for people of diverse backgrounds to meet, share in, and learn
about each others’ cultures. There is something for everyone.
