Sin Barreras made introductory presentations to three church groups recently: to Iglesia RevolZION, to Iglesia Canaan, and to Restoration Cornerstone Church. These presentations were part of Sin Barrera’s expanded outreach to the Hispanic and Charlottesville community. We are hopeful these contacts will continue and grow into full interaction with these and other church groups interested in Sin Barreras activities.
On Saturday Feb 28, Sin Barreras and the Charlottesville Area Immigration Assistance (CAIA) planned to present a legal clinic focused on new possibilities regarding Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and Deferred Action for Parents (DAPA), as well as a presentation of three or four key issues regarding Immigration Law. The host of the event was the Restoration Cornerstone Church in Crozet. Unfortunately due to Google GPS that sent many potential attendees elsewhere, the event did not have many participants and was scaled back. Eventually a brief review of DACA/DAPA requirements took place followed by a presentation of Sin Barreras volunteers to Restoration Cornerstone Church attendees, and an exploration how the two entities could work together in the future. One idea that seemed to resonate and requires further discussion was that of Restoration Cornerstone’s offering busing services to particular S.B. events. Individual immigration consultation was also offered to half-a-dozen clients who did manage to find the church.
